We are upgrading from 14.1.02 to R17. I have a X-Flow question. Can the search server be installed on a separate server and not the application server?

If yes, I assume a service desk secondary server must be installed on this server prior to installing the search server?

Hi Louis,

Yes, in fact, it IS recommended to install the search server on a separate server from Service Desk as it can be very resource intensive.  You do NOT need to install service desk itself at all on the server where you want to install Elastic Search.  You can simply run the service management installer on the server you want to use, and select to install search server.
