  • 1.  Spectrum 10.2 utilization spikes of over 50,000 %, what is the cause and fix?

    Post upgrade from V9.2 to V10.2 we have a number of monitored interfaces going way over the 100% utilization. Before the upgrade this happened on occasion but now all the time. It's difficult to provide data on a interface when the readings are all over the place.

    For any of the problematic devices does the interface port speed set of the device match to that of Port Speed visible under interfaces tab against that specific interface ?

    Jason, It's pretty much as you described, 

    PREVIOUS X_LOW_BANDWIDTH: 10000000 
    CURRENT X_LOW_BANDWIDTH: 10000000 

     

    PREVIOUS X_HIGH_BANDWIDTH: 100 
    CURRENT X_HIGH_BANDWIDTH: 100

     

    Looks like an SNMP issue, I however will not be able to revert to SNMPv1 (security concerns) . I might raise a case with CA Support for a resolution, unless you can think of another fix?

    You can open a case with us and we can review the data to confirm...usually these are vendor issues, so you might need to open a ticket with the vendor also.

    Terry, how did the advice provided work out for you?  Are you all set ?  or are you still having issues?

    Still an ongoing issue, but to be fair I haven't put much time aside to resolve this. One of the fixes was to use SNMPv1 (not possible due to security concerns). I have time this week to look through the resolution put forward by Phani, where the interface port speed should be matching the port speed recorded within CA Spectrum. As they say 'I'll be back' with updates and many thanks for the suggestions.
