  • 1.  Send a message to all computer

    Hi

     

    We were wondering if there is a feature in CA ITCM that would allow us to send a message quickly to all computer/user answering to the DSM explorer.

     

    Our Mail system went down and we were asked to do this.

     

    We've tried with Asset Jobs but after 5 hout only 25% of the computer received the message.

     

    Asset Job we've tried: Message Jobs, Script Job and External Utility Jobs but it was so slow, that the mail system was back on before the message was sent to all computer  (The mail system was down for 16 hours...)

    Asset jobs only run when the AM Agent runs. Since the AM Agent is run on a schedule and possibly at startup, this means there will be a delay, possibly a whole day or even longer depending on your schedule.

     

    However, once you have set up the Asset Job (and run all the COLLECT jobs at least once to populate the job on each SS), you can select the Agents using the DSM Explorer and run an AM job check to force the Agents to run immediately. If your inventory collect jobs are set to once per day (as they should be) the agents will not collect new inventory, but only run the AM jobs which are scheduled.

     

    NOTE: You do not need to check any of the 3 boxes which appear in the dialog when you run the AM job check, just click OK. Also, this assumes the DM or the machine you are running the DSM Explorer on is able to communicate directly with the target systems.
