Hello everybody, I have a network with 8000 machines with 6 scalabities servers and with 1 Domain Manager, my network has 10/100 Mb, when I do a distribution the network collapse and my client call me saying: "Please stop the distribution, my network is collapse". There is some minimum request for network? something like 1Gb bandwidth?

Or why the network collapse? There is something what I can do? How many machines can hold a scalability? Please help me!!

Sounds like perhaps your system is not architected appropriately for your environment. Let me ask a few questions:

•   Are these 8000 Agents in one location, or several?

•   If several locations, are your scalability servers in the remote locations or are they centrally located?

•   If several locations, what is the bandwidth between the central site and the locations?

•   Did you modify the ‘concurrent deliveries’ parameter in config policy?

         This machines are in many locations 12 exactly, and several distance between them.

•   If several locations, are your scalability servers in the remote locations or are they centrally located?

         Each scalability server holds 2 locations, they aren't centrally located

•   If several locations, what is the bandwidth between the central site and the locations?

         some locations are 10Mb and someothers are 5 Mb, in generally is 10 Mb

•   Did you modify the ‘concurrent deliveries’ parameter in config policy?

  Yes this policy was changed, for each location where the scalability is.

There is your issue.  Since all traffic is going over the WAN link to all the agents since the scalability servers are not local to the agents it means you are pushing all the traffic over the wan link.  If you have say a 1 gig package to 8000 agents you are putting 8000 gig over your WAN.

The best solution would be to have a scalability server at each office.  This way you are only putting  12 copies of the package over the WAN.(1 copy per office).  If that is not possible you may want to enable Neighbor Aware and limit the download from the SS to 1 or 2 agents per office.  This way the rest of the machines will get their package form the collaborating agent.

There are two primary purposes for Scalability Servers:

  1.  Divide the load. This is a simple numbers proposition. A single Scalability Server can effectively manage around 1000 Agents, no more than 1500.

  2.  Reducing bandwidth utilization. Critical for sites with multiple remote locations, especially those which have more than a handful of Agents. In this case, a Scalability Server at the remote location means the software package need only be transferred across the WAN once, then it is distributed to the Agents on the Local Network. If you have 10Mb or 100Mb WAN connections and you are distributing large packages to large numbers of Agents without a Scalability Server at the remote location, you will definitely flood the network. Each Scalability Server by default can support up to 50 simultaneous package installation jobs, so that is potentially 50 simultaneous package transfers across a WAN connection. For this use case you should definitely have a Scalability Server at each location, or at the very least as Rich said, you need to configure Neighbor Aware.

Thanks for the help!!! but I have a issue, when I follow the secuence to get the Neighbour Aware Software there aren't options inside it, there is some way to enable it? because I searched in Scalability Server there is an option but it is Exclusion list, and in Domain Manager looks like :

There are something to do to enable Neighbour Aware Software?
