    Hello,

I'd like to know is there a way to monitor Windows File Share availability by using Spectrum, SystemEdge agent, UIM,...? For example, to check availability of \\1.1.1.1\temp$.

If that's possible, how to do it? And maybe get some additional useful information.

    Thanks!

If UIM is an option, there is the dirscan probe:  dirscan (File and Directory Scan) - CA Unified Infrastructure Management Probes - CA Technologies Documentation .  There might be other ways to do this as well but that might be the easiest.

    Thanks for info.

Apart from CA UIM, what are my other options here?

Unfortunately remote/shared drives do not show in the Host Resources table so unless there's an agent with a mib you could create a watch on, I don't think you can monitor this in Spectrum.

I've set it up like this:

Batch script checks file share availability (if exist \\server\temp$...).

If it's not available, it sends trap to Spectrum and Spectrum does the alarming.

Perfect!  Glad you were able to get that configured.
