    Hi CA Unified Infrastructure Management

Is there a topic or question you would like covered in a techdoc?

Do you have some specific knowledge that you think would make a great techdoc?

If so post here and we will work with you to get a doc created and published so we can provide the content you want.

    regards

It would be nice have the uim.core.dashboards_utils.jar documentation with examples , for creating Jasper reports,

It would be really helpful, if we have a step-by-step documentation of creating reports in CABI.
This could use commonly used reports as an example for demonstartion purpose in documentation itself.

How about going through the existing documents and updating them - The "current" Hub technical brief is dated 10/13/2010 and addresses version 5.41. The current NAS doc is dated 1/7/2013 and addresses version 3.60.

The HA technical doc was just refreshed but it still speaks in generalities and addresses what looks to be an 8.2 or 8.3 UIM version. It would be nice if the document took a full 8.51 clean install and provided instruction on specifically what should be done. Especially around EMS and the semi-hidden trillix probes.

Would be nice to have instructions on generating an uptime report - It is surprisingly difficult to generate a list of outages for a server in this product.

Would be good to have a "this is what you need to monitor within UIM itself" document. Along with the how.

Would be good to have a document that addressed applying CCS to the UMP/USM so that it doesn't look so mundane and dated.

Would be good to have a document that addressed coding within UIM similar to what's done at http://www.rosettacode.org/wiki/Rosetta_Code . Pick a couple of the common tasks - create an alarm, create QoS, iterate across all hubs, execute REST call against wasp, etc and provide like solutions in all the languages (LUA, Perl, Java, Python, #net, C, etc.) that do the same thing. Sometimes it is far easier to code by example than have to learn  new language.

It would be nice to have some best practices doc for each and every probe. it will be helpful in setting up monitoring and atleast having a starting point for defining the baseline.

In addition to best practices, more detailed information about permissions required for each application probe would be great. Forexample, what permissions/resources the user needs in vmware to use the vmware probe.

I would like to see a tech doc on maintenance mode, specifically the maintenance_mode probe, addressing things like how it determines next maintenance windows, how it interacts with NAS, how it handles time zones and daylight savings, including: where it gets its timezone info from (OS or Java libraries?) and how it handles the ambiguous case of schedules occurring during DST changes. Also, how to troubleshoot problems with maintenance schedules, such as schedules not firing, obtaining the history of maintenance windows, etc.

    Hi,

I know this document but have don't have information located in the technical brief (see document:  https://search.ca.com/assets/SiteAssets/TEC000003845_External/nas%20tech%20brief%203_6.pdf

This document is helpful for command and parameters in LUA scripts on NAS.

We contacting that some function are not update in recent version (example nimbus.arlarm not parameters for metrics and type like in the API)

    Regards
