CA SSO + CA AA: backing vs delegated authentication scheme scenarios?

  • 1.  CA SSO + CA AA: backing vs delegated authentication scheme scenarios?

Shim properties mentions backing and delegated authentication scheme scenarios, but I can't find anything else what is the difference? I assume the documentation mostly covers delegated authentication, where CA AA is delegated to do authentication. What are flows for backing authentication and how exactly to configure it?

    Thanks,

    Vlad

Delegated authentication is letting AFM handle the authentication.

Adapter supports external or third-party authentication schemes or mechanisms as well. These mechanisms are referred to as backing authentication in the Adapter terminology. If a backing authentication scheme is configured, the Arcot Authentication Shim acts as an interface between CA SiteMinder and the backing authentication mechanism for SM integration use cases.
