How can we see the sum of actuals on task at the user story level?

    Hello,

We are using the actual field to compare the task estimate vs actual work effort. We have enabled the actuals field, but what we would like to see is the sum of actuals from all tasks within the story at the story level.

Is automatic in this case, when the task is completed

Each responsible by task, should update the field actuals

Interesting, if you look at the screenshot i added to this question, for me, its showing 0 at story level, even after completing two tasks ...

Do you know if you have enabled something to make that visible?

    Hi Gilani,

It works as Bruno described for me as well. When you have a chance can you let us know what page/app that your screenshot is of? Then we can try testing it out exactly.

I did't do any configuration for this case.. Just created these task, and each consultant do the update in actual field.

Same when the task is In Progress, the actuals show right in US.

Thank you Bruno and Blawe01. I am using Iteration Status screen under Track, and it seems for me Plan Estimate Task Estimate and To Do are all rolling up to story and sprint level, but it seems for me Actuals are only rolling up to Sprint level and not user story level. See below screenshot.

Can you attach your screenshot with the headers? Maybe you are using some other field than actuals?

    Thanks,

    With Regards,

This is interesting ... I am not sure why it is not working on my account ... Do you know if Actuals field has been enabled on the story level, because currently, I can only see the Actual Field on the Task Level and not at the story level ...

michael.addington - i added 0 to my tasks, and still actuals are not summing up ...

Here is what i'm thinking.  Maybe you need to input a number in all the tasks to get a total under the shared parent story.  You have to manually enter the actuals for Tasks 3 and Tasks 4, even if it's a zero.  It's either that or you need to have at least a task estimate or task actual value entered in all the tasks.  Just a theory.  Can you export to csv? does it show the total in the export?

Issue has been resolved by enabling the Actuals Field on the User Story level as well. It was first enabled on Task Level, hence the sum of actuals was not showing up on Story level.

Thanks for all your help and feedback on this.

    AmynGilani1348884,

Thanks for letting us know what it took to get it right.  I'll keep that in mind if we see this again.

devers1 - so I didnt enable the field, we have a COE who did it for me. I was able to find below link, let me know if that helps, and if not, I can reach out to COE and have them provide screenshots on how to enable the field:

    Donna,

You can show and hide the Fields on the Artifacts from the specific Workspace/Project from the Setup page.  The steps are:

    1. Click on the Setup icon in the upper right corner.  The Hammer & Wrench icon.
    2. Click on the "Workspaces & Projects" tab.
    3. Click on the Workspace you would like to edit.
    4. Click on "Fields" in the left column.
    5. Edit the field to set visibility.

The Help page has some information.  https://<ON_PREMISES_IP_OR_URL>/help/create-custom-fields

Thank you very much.  I now know this needs to be activated at the subscription level for the task and then for the user story.  Very insightful.
