How to integrate CA SDM with LDAP - CA Service Management - 17.1 - CA Technologies Documentation

Configuring the option 'ldap_enable_auto' allows SDM to automatically create a new contact record from a corresponding LDAP user record when the new user first logs in to CA SDM.  There is no option apart from pdm_ldap_sync / pdm_ldap_import that creates an SDM contact whenever a new entry is added to AD.

    Hi James

    Can yoy pls elaborate

you said by configuring the option 'ldap_enable_auto' allows SDM to automatically create a new contact record from a corresponding LDAP user record when the new user first logs in to CA SDM.

THis means for example... In AD.. a new contact has been created with following details

    First name: ABC

    Middle name: D

    Last Name:EFG

    Userid: abcd

So this user is able to login to sdm?? with userid abcd??? and once it login...this contact will automatically create in sdm contacts??? please confirm

if my above statement is correct...then wts the point of second statement which you said  that there is no option apart from pdm_ldap_sync / pdm_ldap_import that creates an SDM contact whenever a new entry is added to AD.??

Your original question could have been read as asking for an immediate synchronisation between a new AD record and a new contact record in SDM - and my second statement is simply confirming that it doesn't happen that way.  The contact record is created in SDM when the new contact first logs on, as the documentation states and as you have correctly understood.

    Regards,

    James

    Hi Aamir,

Creation of account in AD does not mean that it will automatically create an account in SDM Contact Table. If the user is trying to login to the app for the first time and if the option "ldap_enable_auto" is installed it will automatically create an account in ca_contact table for the end user as the document states. Brian and James replies pretty much states the same and your understanding is correct.
