The company just installed CA PPM 15.3 to enable the New UX features.

As part of the change strategy, they are enforcing the use of New UX for Project Managers users.

As we all know, every time you open the PPM page (http://servername), it automatically opens the classic interface (http://servername/niku)

Can you set the New UX (http://servername/pm) as the default landing page ?

Ideally yes it can be, you need to configure the same via your load balancer to redirect to PM. However this is only possible if you haven't configured external authentication

When you say external authentication, you mean LDAP ?  or SSL ?

    LDAP/SSO

Unfortunately, this PPM is using LDAP integration. You know why this would cause a problem?

At this point NEW UX supports just ppm authentication and nothing else and to do that you need to land up in Classic PPM . What you can do is write a rule in the load balancer to redirect as soon as you land in classic UI to NEW UI

Thanks Suman.  I have the same requirement using SSO.  We do not want everyone to land in New UX but we do have certain set of users will land in Classic View and other set of users will land directly in New UX.  How do we get this done in SAAS environment?

    Hi Venkitta

In SAAS we can get you land directly into the NEW UX for all but we cannot do few go to classic ux and few go to new UX. However users who land to new ux their URL will be like https://cpppmxxxx.ondemand.ca.com/pm and you need to educate the users to change the url to https://cpppmxxxx.ondemand.ca.com/niku/nu

    Hope this helps

Thanks Suman.  That's great news.  Is is possible to have two separate URLs with SSO authentication, so i can share the New UX URL to specific users?

    Thanks

    Just wondering again...

What is the issue here? The URL is different for the Classic UI and the New UI. Are you saying the the users really type the URL to launch Clarity?

I should expect the users to use bookmarks. So you just give just one (orthe two options) and tell them to bookmark the one they should use.

    Hi Urmas

I can directly access the New UX direct URL after I enter my user/password in ondemand portal  My user id is not SSO enabled but the customer is using SSO enabled authentication.

Let me explain.  The customer is on SAAS.  Currently, the user can access the CA PPM application after SSO authentication and the user first land in Classic view and then click on New UX link to go New UX page.

If the user already logged onto CA PPM with active session and click on New UX (direct URL) the link is taking to the desired page (New UX).

Assume that, the user directly access the New UX URL,  the link should be authenticated and should take to the New UX, instead of landing in classic view.

Thanks I think I see the issue. Correct me if this is wrong.

Without SSO there is no problem

With SSO the system directs the user to the designated landing or launch page regardless which URL on the Clarity server is given.

Your need is to have different landing pages also for the SSO users.

Exactly. My ask is to have certain users directly go to New UX after SSO authentication.

Can't think any OOTB available for the user to do that.

URL redirect in spite of the name is not likely to do that.

Might a process be able to do that? Eg. once a session is created the New UX page is launched and the Classic UI closed.

That would be a challenge, too.

    Hi Suman,

    Is that restriction still true?
    FYI I use LDAP authentication

We are a SaaS implementation, but as we are implemeting SSO, we had to get special permission/approval from Broadcom to have them make out landing page the Classic UX.  Also, after upgrading to 15.6.1 in our DEV environment, it went back to landing on the new UX.

Of course, it is possible to change the landing page.
Clarity is just a simple tomcat web application (no woodoo).

    Steps:

    1. Navigate to \ppm\.setup\templates\docroot\index.html
    2. Change the location.replace script (see example below)
    3. enter in cmd: service stop deploy start app
    4. done (Tested with Clarity PPM 15.7.1, no loadbalancer in use!)
    <html><head>
    <!--script>location.replace("/niku/nu#action:homeActionId");</script-->
    <script>location.replace("/pm");</script>
    </head></html>

    Cool, thanks.

Would have saved me some investigation time If I had found the other thread before.
