AE v9 workflow in "waiting for user input" but nobody has a prompt in their window... what to do?

Today someone "killed and restarted" some part of a workflow or sub-workflow that contains a prompt set (I couldn't find any log of the attempt), and the parent workflow went to "waiting for user input" status. That's not odd in itself, but somewhere along the way, his prompt window was lost. Not sure if he never got, closed it, or what. (The parent workflow was under a schedule, and the schedule had already ended, FWIW.)

Regardless of the cause, what can we do in this situation? Is there a way to at least find out who the task is supposedly waiting for input from? Or to revive a lost prompt window?

I ended up manually setting the "waiting" parent workflow to Active, and then "go immediately" on the child workflow. But if the prompt set had important values, this probably wouldn't have been adequate.
