Here's a general overview of the process.
The initial connection from the Agent to the AE is via the host and port defined in the Agent's .ini under the [TCP/IP] section: 'cp='
Once the initial connection is made, the AE adds the list of CPs to the Agent's .ini file under the [CP_LIST] section. This is so that for future starts, the Agent can connect to all CPs to determine which CP has the least load.
The Agent tells the AE which port to communicate to it back on which is defined in the 'port=' under the [TCP/IP] section of the Agent's .ini. This port is also used for Agent to Agent communication.
Here's a good diagram from the docs about
Establishing a Connection

Thanks a lot Jennifer for the info provide also I went through the link you provided.
1. But how does the AE knows agents ?
2. Does AE has list to verify the agent assigned to it?
Also here I see only the initial connection is established by agent not the AE
Which means only one way communication is established.
As you said during the communication process agent will connect to least load CP process in AE,
In this situation when agent connection goes down, In middle of production cycle,What happens
to Active objects running in that agent and how the status of the objects is updated to AE.
Also when the agent reconnects does it get the same CP (communication process) or the different CP with least load
If possible Kindly explain how the objects are submitted to their respective agents. I see only generic statement in documentation like activation, generation, process and completion, it would be great if you explain about the internal process involved in processing the work load.
