MARS Connection for MS SQL Server

Hello Automic Community!

I wanted to post an discussion around the Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS) connection option available when setting up the SQL Driver Connect in the configuration files. Automic Software advises users to use the MARS connection whenever possible as it allows for multiple active statements on a single connection to the database. This not only improves performance potential but can prevent the application from waiting to process or cancel all result sets from one batch before executing another batch on the connection.

To enable the Automation Engine to use a MARS connection you simply need to add the line "Mars_Connection=Yes" at the end of the SQLDRIVERCONNECT section within the files ucsrv.ini and the database configuration files.
