You have certainly noticed that recent releases of RA agents come in 2 different solutions: a standard one, and a 'NoWeb'.

The reason behind this is that the layout of RA objects (forms of jobs for instance) had to be re-built so they could be used under the AWI version 12.
Therefore, if you are using a version prior to version 12, please use the NoWeb version. Otherwise you may use the standard version.

    Here is a little example:

This does not apply to all RA solutions though. For instance if you are using a WebService agent version 3, there is only one available solution for each release.

You can use the Compatibility Checker if you have any doubts.

    Best regards,
    Antoine

Thanks for this post, Antoine_Sauteron!  It helps clarify the difference between the two types of solutions.

We need to upgrade an agent and this is exactly the question I had. What should we do if we are on version 12.0.4, and still using the Java User Interface? Our plan is to roll out AWI shortly, but to continue relying on the Java UI as the main GUI into the platform while the user base gets accustom to the AWI interface. So we plan to use both the Java GUI and the AWI in parallel for a time before fully cutting over to AWI.

What is the best approach with this in mind? Sounds like we should install the "noweb" version, but will need to coordinate an agent upgrade to the "web" version along with our full cut over to AWI? I'm guessing this will also be required for other RA type agents like SAP? This could be a good bit more work that is needed when moving to AWI, so good to get some awareness now!

    Thanks!

    Eric

    Hi eric.felker ,

What RA agents are you planning to "move over" to the AWI?

Then we can tell you if there are AWI panels for them or not, meaning if you need the solution or the noweb one.

    Cheers,

    Alexander

    Hi Alexander-

We have SAP and OEBS agents, but Michael noted that these are not RA agents, so there isn't anything to consider with them (I thought they were for some reason). So the OEBS agent is the main consideration.

    Thx-
    Eric

So with consideration to OEBS agent, do we install 'noweb' version now, then coordinate cut over to awi version when cutting over to AWI? Is it possible to have both versions of the agent running in parallel so users are able to use both in tandem (with different agent names)?

    Hey Eric,

SAP Agent isn't an RA agent so it just has an AWI plugin that you drop in the tomcat AWI autoinstall folder.

Thanks for the clarification on that!

No problem. Though to be clear OEBS is an RA Agent. SAP is not
