Can anyone pls guide me Why these files have so much size in CA service desk server?
C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Service Desk Manager\site\data\archive
File name: *********_Notify_Logs
the notify log is one of the busiest tables in a typical system. I'd suggest you purge notify logs rather than archive them.
Ok. but if we purge notify logs then can we remove it from
because its taking too much space.
Certainly. If you're OK to purge these records rather than archiving them then there is no need to retain the archived logs.
The reason for Archiving the data is to keep a backup of the data in case if its needed in future for any purpose /situation. If you expecting to keep a copy of that data but not in that mentioned location then you can always change the archive location from Administration - Archive and Purge - Archive and Purge Settings - Change the "Archive Purge Rule Path:" from $NX_ROOT/site/data/archive to some other location.
If you do not need any of that data then we may delete the content permanently (Similar to Alt + Delete)
The information in the NX_ROOT\site\data\archive folder is a result of the archive/purge facility rules being run on the session_log and not_log tables. This data is only required if you should need to restore any of the session_log or not_log data for the period of the archived data. You could safely compress these files into a single zip file and remove the files from the disk thus freeing up considerable space. Should you need to restore data from the period of a file within the zip file, it could simply be uncompressed and then restored from the uncompressed file. Once the archive files are created, they are not used by Service Desk unless they are required to restore some data from that period.
