  • 1.  CA vTDM clone creation

    Posted Jul 12, 2018 01:59 AM

    Hi,

Iam using vTDM 4.3 version and CA TDM version is 4.4

In vTDM, Iam trying with the MS SQL database.

According to the ca docops document, Iam able to create a clone for my database.

How can be the virtualised clone is useful for tester?

Since Iam able to see the clone created in the Myclone of my ca tdm portal.

Please help me to understand the concept clearly.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

When you use vTDM a clone copy of the database is created and auto attached to MS SQL, The tester will see the jdbc string in the clone screen and this can then be used by a tester to configure the application to connect to the clone copy of the database. Hope this helps

    ???Hi,

Iam able to see the details like

The same UNC link which I have used to connect to the filesystem drive. I dont see any Jdbc string to connect with the database.

Help me to do the further steps to consume the clone in ca tdm portal.

    Hi,

This is a manual clone not an auto attach. When you created the checkpoint make sure you select SQL from the drop down and enter the details for the SQL server that you want to attach to and when the clone is created you will see a screen like this.

Let me know if you have any further quesitons

    Regards
