  • 1.  Connection Issue while creating checkpoint in vtdm

    Posted Aug 01, 2018 07:24 AM

    Hi,

    Iam using CA TDM 4.4.

Database version :  Oracle 11.2 (Linux).

I have configured the oracle database to the ca vtdm by referring to the document link below,

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-test-data-manager/4-4/en/virtual-test-data-management-vtdm/copy-data-from-vtdm-supported-data-sources/how-to-copy-data-from-oracle-database/manage-gold-copies-for-oracle-database

Iam able to add the data under the filesystem but iam facing an connection issue while creating the checkpoint in CA.

Error : "There are no Oracle datafiles or dump files on the filesystem"

Please guide us to solve the issue.

    Thanks in advance.

Can you run the following commands on the Oracle server:

    mount | grep /vtdm/mnt/filesystemname

    df -h /vtdm/mnt/filesystemname

    ls -l /vtdm/mnt/filesystemname

Replacing "/vtdm/mnt/filesystemname" with the mount point used to the vTDM appliance (and the filesystem that was created within vTDM).

Can you confirm that you have copied the .dmp and the .log file for the oracle database,

    Regards

    Hi,

The Problem was not solved yet.

I have following questions to be clarified,

    1. I have an clarification on connecting the vtdm mount (placed in oracle) to the local share network (vtdm filesystem).

does the above command will connect the vtdm local share network and the vtdm mount??

    2. I have followed all the steps which mentioned in the vtdm document(ca docops). In that, there is no steps that covers for copying the .dbf file to the vtdm local share network. Is that we are manually copying the .dbf files and dump files in to the local share path?

    3. Why we are creating the /vtdm/mnt/filesystemname in Oracle which is placed in linux?

    ?

Please clarify the above questions to solve the issue.

    Thankyou.

This is just above the image that you attached:

So the basic steps are as follows:

    1. Create vTDM filesystem in Portal
    2. Login to Oracle Server
    3. Mount vTDM filesystem on Oracle Server
    4. Copy Data to NFS mounted file system (from Oracle Server to vTDM filesystem)
    5. Checkpoint the data

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

The oracle database and the vtdm filesystem are connected.

I have copied the dump files and tablenamespace file(.DBF) to the vtdm filesystem.

In CA vTDM dashboard, able to see the memory of the data. But when I try to create checkpoint it is displaying the below error.,

Please guide us yp solve the issue.

    Thanks in advance

Since you sated that you have performed all of the steps, I think at this point it would be best to troubleshoot this via an assisted support case where an engineer can schedule a remote session with you to go over this problem and collect any logs/data as needed.
