    Hi all

We are looking at running an exercise in which we will be running "live" from our DR site, with all the data mirrored beforehand from our Primary site/Lpar whch hosts Endevor. Question - how best to ensure the integrity of the Endevor repository at the DR site ?

    thx

    MJ

    I've always recommended the following:

Regular nightly jobs during non-DR periods...

    1) Yes, do the mirroring/full volume backups

    2) Also do monthly full UNLOAD jobs and nightly incremental UNLOAD jobs and keep them in your "vault"

    During a DR exercise....

    1) Restore from your volume backups

    2) Run the Endevor VALIDATE job

    3) If the VALIDATE job returns everything is OK, you're done... Endevor is in good shape

    4) If the VALIDATE job returns NOT OK, use the latest monthly and incremental copies to restore

We don't currently run UNLOAD, we do a daily DFDSS backup. I suspect this may be something to do with performance issues at the time of the decision (several years ago).

So I plan on doing that, plus a FULL UNLOAD as well, as it will make sure we don't miss anything that may not be covered by a dataset backup.

Plus running an inventory report before and after - numbers should match

And yes, a validate before & after - any errors should be the same
