    Hi ,

There is an communication error  while testing connection in dataengine probe. Earlier it was working fine , but now we are getting communication error .

We have configured SQL on port 50001.

Also checked the log file its showing following error.

Database instance is working fine .Ports are open and between central hub server hosting dataengine and database server. What could be the possible reason for this dataengine issue.

    CA Unified Infrastructure Management

    Thanks

    Aditi

Check and see if the sql server has TLS 1.2 enabled.

If it does this will be the root cause of the problem.

Currently the data_engine does not support any encryption at all.

If TLS of any level is enabled on the SQL server it will cause the none encrypted connection to not work.

Also you are using a NAMED instance with a none standard port.

    This is not supported.

Install and Configure Your Database Software - CA Unified Infrastructure Management - 8.5.1 - CA Technologies Documentat…

Other solutions have different requirements. If you:

    • Use a non-default instance name for the Microsoft SQL Server: Use the default port (1433) when installing CA UIM.
    • Use a port other than 1433 for CA UIM: Use the default Microsoft SQL Server instance name.

you can work around this instead of using the instance name IE Server\instance you the IP address and port.

There seem to be some port issue as security team blocked the 50001.They have allowed the access again.

Thanks Gene for the solution as well!
