  • 1.  Cognos Agent name

    Hi,

We implemented the Java agents to monitor Cognos. The agents are reporting correctly but we need to have unique names of all deployed agents.

We are using WebSphere Liberty profile. There is a common automated script which starts all the instances in one go.

As per autonaming of agents it is adding %1, %2 ad so on with agent name.

As mentioned in Websphere Liberty profile agent installation documentation, It is not picking up java parameters from jvm.option file.

We tried to provide Agent name in %COGNOS_HOME%/bin64/bootstrap_wlp_winx64.xml but still its not taking unique names.

Please suggest some solution to this.

    Regards,

    Sid

    Dear Siddharth:

The agent logs (even in INFO) should give you a clue as to what the issue is. I also provided these two knowledge docs.

Websphere Java Agent Name Auto Naming error - CA Knowledge

Customize Java Agent naming based on Application. - CA Knowledge

    Dear Community:

    Do you have other suggestions

    Thanks

    Hello Sid,

If agent autonaming doesn't work because of how the application has been deployed or because of the automated scripts/process, then it possible that you might need to use introscope.agent.agentNameSystemPropertyKey

I helped a customer with a similar situation when using Oracle appserver in unix, below KB covers this use-case and resolution:

    I hope this helps,
