  • 1.  What is the different of PerfMon and APMIA for Host monitoring?

    Hi,

    Can I understand what is exactly the different of PerfMon and APMIA for Host monitoring? When I need to use PerfMon and when I need to use APMIA host monitoring?

    I have enabled the PerfMon with pattern like this:

    introscope.agent.perfmon.metric.filterPattern=|TCPv4|*,|TCPv6|*,|Network Interface|*|*,|LogicalDisk|*|*,|PhysicalDisk|*|*

    And also I installed the APMIA for host monitoring.

    Example

    1. Network Interface metrics.

       a. The PerfMon gave me Network Interface metrics like these:

    b. The APMIA for Host gave me Network Interface metrics like these:

    Hi Rio,

    As you know APMIA is using CA SystemEdge for Host Monitoring which is separate to the older PerfMonCollectorAgent that comes with a Windows .NET agent.

    PerfMonCollectorAgent  is getting metrics direct from Windows Perfmon and on Windows SystemEdge seems to be the same: https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/CA%20Server%20Automation%2012%208-ENU/Bookshelf_Files/PDF/SE_User_ENU.pdf

    So I suspect they are just presenting the same data in a different way and you can probably use either.

    Hiko_Davis and Guenter_Grossberger might have more thoughts on this.

    Regards,

    Not much more to add other than APMIA is basically EPA with a lot of additional features and be delivered and managed from ACC. It does, however, for the time being, require a JRE to be installed on the target system. Future versions will come with its own.
