  • 1.  Activate trace at system level

    Posted Oct 05, 2018 07:27 AM

    Hello team.

I am trying to activate the trace for a user:

However ppm shows me a message indicating that the trace can not be activated because it is deactivated at the system level:

ALERT:Action Tracing has been enabled for this resource, however, no trace data will be logged, since Action Tracing has been disabled at the system level

Does anyone know how I can activate the trace?

Thank you very much in advance. A greeting.

    HI Selfa

You can go to PPM app and with administrator access you can go to http://ppm/niku/nu#action:security.logs and then Edit configuration and check the Action tracing

Is that covered in the documentation?

If yes what search term would you use to find it in Docops?

    Hi Urmas,

I did a search on DocOps using "action tracing" and found the following topic:

Configure User Accounts and Access Rights

The topic does not explain how to activate the setting at the system level. We will work with CA Support to understand if any further documentation is necessary.

    Regards, Sarmistha (PPM documentation)

    Thanks for looking into it.
It does make a short references to system-level which was the answer for the question in this thread.
Further documentation would be welcome as security logs are on one of the unlisted pages.

    Thanks for your quick answer.
However, when I activated the check you mentioned, the system fell, leaving us without access to the development environment. I had to ask CA support to restart the services and deactivate that option.
I do not understand what the problem could have been.
    Greetings.

    Hi Selfa,

There was a n old issue where activating trace was blanking out the properties.xml and that was taken care in the latest release. What version you are in?
