  • 1.  Hard Booking to a Project by Month/Quarter/etc.

    Hello,

We have many resources who are booked to a project; however, the amount that they are allocated to the project changes by month or quarter. As a result, I do not want to book someone 30% to a project if one month they are booked 30% and another 15%.

I cannot find a way in Clarity to hard book someone to a project by month or quarter. Is this possible without a workaround? Is there even a workaround?

    Thanks!

Have look at the portlets Weekly detail and Resource workload. You can change the timescaled attribute tobe  the allocation for the desired timeperiod.

Even if you hit the timeperiods do not exist error you can still enter the allocation by period and it is properly saved.

What is displayed is what is in the insta-slices. If your number of periods and first periods are set so that the periods go outside the stored range you get the error. Then reduce the number of periods or change the start date.

Putting timescaled allocation on Team tab has the benefit that you do not have to filter for the project.

No %Allocation by Month out of the box in Clarity.  Best one can do is to put a Time Scaled Value attribute on the Team\Staff page putting Allocation in as the selected attribute and set Display Type to Number.  One can use this to allocate hours per month to each team member:

The new resource management screens in New UX allow the same thing, though better – there, one can chose Hours or FTEs, and one has multi-cell copy paste capabilities.

FTEs in New UX is pretty darn close to %Allocation, as one is putting on fractions of a person/role.  Screenshot, below, from 15.2.

Numbers entered into new UX fields flow into same TSV fields shown in Classic Team\Staff view.

    Does this help?
