  • 1.  To monitor URL's externally

    Posted Oct 26, 2018 01:56 AM
    • Hi Team,
    • Need suggestion to monitor URL externally:
    • If we configure url_response probe in public hosted server (Server in which internet works),  will we be able to monitors  the public hosted URL’s from that server, if yes then what would be prerequisites? How can we discover the server with Public IP ? How can we add robot and url probe in that public hosted server.

    • If I am having two URLs in my network, those I have NAT with Public IP so they can load outside the network too. Now there is dependency of DNS service on those URLS, So if my DNS service goes down the URLs those are hosted with Public IP will not load externally, internally (in private network) they may load.  So  I want to monitor this scenario if URL is not working externally it should give me alert.

Please let me know if it can be done.

    Hi, Yusuf.

    Thank you for posting question.

Would you please let us state what you are trying to implement ?

"public server" means servers running in cloud (aws, azure or so) environment ?

Thanks, so you are trying to say

    • You have a server in your infra.
    • The server provides website (URL) that has public IP, where it is accessible from the internet.
    • Access from internet depends on one DNS service.
    • If the DNS is down, then access from the internet is not working.

Which situation you would like to be notified ?

"DNS is down" or "access from the internet is not working."

If DNS goes down URLs will not be accessible so I want to monitor the  URLs status (up/Down).

Also let me know can we discover that host with public IP ?

How will we add robot in that server. To Deploy a robot we also need a hub where robot will report. Will that robot with public IP can report to Hub that is configured in private network.
