  • 1.  CA Performance manager creating duplicate interfaces for NFA data source interfaces.

    Hello,

User is using NFA 9.5 & CA PM 3.5 versions in his environment.

CA PC is showing interfaces discovered using Data Aggregator & NFA as seperate items.
Due to this Network team is getting confused between Flow reports & SNMP based reports.

Is there a possibility to merge this interface items ?

    --- Remark ---

They tried the rediscover the devices, still results are same.
Problem is both tools are seeing the if type differently.
CA PM sees if type as vlan but NFA sees it as LAN-ET (they cant really control this)

This issue is most often caused when a device is discovered by PM (or synched from Spectrum) using a different IP address than the netflow source IP address received by NFA. As a result, CA PC sees two different devices and, consequently, duplicate interfaces. The device netflow configuration should be changed to source the flow from the same interface that VASTR01-CR01.cokeonena.com resolves to. CA PC will reconcile the devices when the IPs are the same.

Once quick question any configuration changes needed on NFA / CA PC end ?

Or simply changing netflow config on device end will merge the duplicate instances ?

    Best Regards

No other configuration required beyond netflow source interface on device. A full NFA resync *may* be required to complete the reconciliation. Note that NFA will detect a new device after the IP change and historical flow data will be stranded with the old device unless the old and new interfaces are merged: Merge Interfaces - CA Network Flow Analysis - 9.3.8 - CA Technologies Documentation
