  • 1.  Client Automation r14.0 SP2: SQL Server 2016 support not found in compatibility matrix

    Hi everyone,

I looked over the following CA document:

    https://support.ca.com/us/product-content/status/compatibility-matrix/ca-it-client-manager-manager-and-server-compatibility-matrix.html

The table for "Management Database (Remote MDB) Only - Cluster (Active/Active and Active/Passive)" doesn't show support for SQL Server after SQL Server 2014 for any OS. I was hoping someone can tell me whether or not SQL Server 2016 support is available for this configuration. The application is running on Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

the support of SQL 2016 is planned for the upcoming Service Pack SP3.

However, internal testing hasn't showed any problems. But to be on the safe side, you may want to wait for ITCM R14 SP3.

    Awesome, thanks!

Any chance that you know when SP3 is expected to be released?

Edit: Isn't 14.0.3 just another name for r14.0 SP3? It was released over half a year ago.

I've been using it internally within a lab environment, without issue.  I should also mention that I never install the CCS feature set, which would probably be the only compatibility risk/concern.  If you went ahead with production on SQL 2016, we would be able to help you as long as the issue doesn't boil down to something unexpected with SQL 2016.  Without official support/certification for it, we can't be held to come up with a solution on the spot, for something we don't officially certify/support yet.  Probably best to stick with SQL 2014 for PROD purposes, and wait for SP3 to do 2016.  Just my two cents.

    Hello,

we are using MS SQL 2016 Cluster and stand-alone server for hosting MDB (as remote db). It's working fine for r14 SP2. It's necessary to install Client Connectivity Tools from installation media of SSMS  2014. Both SSMS2014 and SSMS17.9 can co-exists on the same server with EM/DM.

    Hi,

Thanks, but we're looking at Remote MDB only.

    Hello,

    we are using for:

EM - SQL 2016 cluster (based on Windows Server 2016 FC)

DM - SQL 2016 stand-alone hosted by Windows Server 2016

Both are remote DB. DSM is working fine and very quickly.
