  • 1.  AO Rule on Cleared Alarms

I have several AO rules setup that send email in the event of a critical alarm.  I'm wondering if there is a way to send another email if that critical alarms is acknowledged either by the system or an engineer.  For example, we are alerting on the MSSQLSERVER Windows service for a change in state from running.  That generates critical alarms.  If that service is then started and is running, the alarm will clear.  Can we send an email on the cleared or acknowledged event?

On your current AO profiles you have configured to send the email on the critical alarm, try selecting the clear severity as well, then from the Advanced sub-tab for this AO profile edit, select the "Expect the previous severity level to be part of the severity filter" checkbox.  This will assure that the email will be sent for critical alarms and the corresponding clear alarm when the previous severity of the alarm was critical.  The email recipients will not get an email if the severity drops below a critical alarm before the alarm is cleared in this case.  If you want the email recipients to receive the clear message even if the alarm severity drops before the clear alarm is received, then do not select this option on the Advanced sub-tab.

    Hope this helps.
