    Hi all!
Any ideas why the alarm process down continue active but the process is running?
The monitoring process is through RFC 2790

    on list process show running

we've had few identical cases like this.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    regards,

    Hello Emilio,

Can you share the problematic Monitored Process rule? (in the first screenshot, select the monitored process in question and click on Edit button).

    Thanks,

    Silvio

Hi Silvio, thanks for your response.

    I'll remain attentive.

    Hi Emilio,

What version of Spectrum are you using?  You'll probably need to enable debug and review the output (and possibly open a ticket).

    Cheers

    Hi Jason,

The version of Spectrum is 10.2

The only thing I noticed was in the configuration I see "listener -inherit" and in the Running Processes I see "LISTENER -inherit". Not sure if case is an issue or not.

You are right Joe, considering that this is case-sensitive.

    Hi Emilio,

Some things that I would check:

    - Uncheck the "Match Parameters" box, since apparently you have only one instance of this same process running;

    - Instead of leaving the "Process count less than" set to 0, set it to 1 and then unckeck both "Process Start" and "Process stop" boxes. That worked for me on previous ocasions.

    Best regards,

    Marcelo

Hi Zacchi ! thanks for your feedback.

I'm gonna test with your suggestions.

I'll let you know how is it going

    Thank you!

Hi all, thanks for your time.
I have not been success for the monitoring processes

    The thing is:

For all oracle servers we set up monitoring process of both listeners

The processes show in a critical status on "Monitored Process (RFC 2790)"

    It shows running number "1"

on Parameters show the match as lower-case

on Running Processes (RFC 2790)  the match parameters show in upper-case as well as when we enable monitoring processes

    but later show in lower-case

I changed on the process model attribute the parameter to upper-case

but the match parameters still showing in lower-case on "monitored processes (RFC 2790)

The suggestion of Marcelo is good but the DBAs want to know when the LISTENER either LISTENER_MONITOR go down.

Anyone who have the oracle listeners monitored?

    I appreciate your help.

    thanks in advance.

    EOS.

    Hi Emilio,

If they need to monitor both processes, you can still use the solution I suggested, adding both and using the "Match Parameters" option, as you are doing now.

Try just changing the "Process Count Less Than" to "1" and uncheck the "Process Stop" box. See if that helps.

Also, please make sure to manually clear the current alarms, to validate that the condition is reflecting the current status.

    Best regards,

    Marcelo

    Hi emilio.ogaz, all,

if my memory serves me correct,

    - process names are are converted to lower case upon rule/monitoring setup anyway

    - process start/stop monitores a PID (process ID) and alerts if that changes

    - process count verifies the number of process instances

So as mentioned by Zacchi, based on your 2 different listener processes you probably want to have "match paramters" and "process count less than 1" and "process count greater than 10" but not "process start", "process stop".

    regards,

    Raphael
