    Hi,

How can we achieve following things in CA Agile?

    1) When we try to add new fields at Portfolio level it gets applied to all the work items. Is there a way to hide fields which are not relevant other Workitem? Meaning I don't want to see fields which belongs to Epic in Feature.

    2) Is there a way to make value default in the drop down list?

    3) Is there a way to make custom fields read only?

    4) How can we validate a filed for certain state value. Example: If a user change the state from New to Approved, we would like to make sure user enters Acceptance Criteria.

Hi Anitha,  When creating custom fields for portfolio items - they apply to all portfolio item types.  Unfortunately, there is no way to apply to only one type of PI.  There is no way to make a value the default, But you can create a work item template that will select the value as the type.  There is no way to make custom fields read only - only visible or not visible.  There is no way to create conditional fields at this time.  We do have a number of ideas on our ideas site requesting different variations of this functionality.  You may wish to review them and use your votes on the ideas that work best for you and other users of Agile Central.  https://ideas.rallydev.com/

    Hi.

To add to Edwin's reply, you can check out this article that walks you through using Templates to set default values for dropdowns:
