hello, we are planning to upgrade our ae 11.2 to 12. unfortunately due to the lack of resources, we only have 1 host for our AE. the documentation suggest that in order for the ZDU to work properly, we need to have a separate instance either on another host or on the same host. i keen on having a separate instance on the same host. however, i don't want to

install it again from the scratch (it was installed by an employee from automic 3 yrs ago) since i don't wanna mess with it.

would it be possible to just copy the whole AE directory, paste it somewhere and just change the config files to make another instance? by the way, our ae runs on top of a solaris 11 O.S. or do you have any suggestions? hope you can help me out on this. thanks

I am currently planning and testing our ZDU from V11.2.3 to V11.2.9

Basically: ZDU needs a lot of preparation and planning time (especially the service manager issue)
If you are limited in time and have a maintenance window I would recommend performing a common upgrade.

Regarding your Question- Yes its possible to copy-paste your AE directory elsewhere and change the INI files.

Advice: If you are not well-experienced I would recommend asking an Automic consultant for assistance during ZDU, its sometimes a bit tricky :-)

PS: we will do the update V11.2 => V12.X the common way without ZDU

thanks. but we have deferred the upgrade as our priority is to transfer our ae server and ae db server to cloud. actually we have already copied the 

whole AE directory to the cloud and export/import the db as well to the cloud but i've encountered problem when starting the agents. i have also changed all the INI files to point to the imported cloud db. pls do help me.
