Can we get message or alert if a new file_system/disk/drive is automatically added in cdm probe.
I'm not aware of that capability in the cdm probe.
i think it is not possible ,Any specific requirement for this feature ?
Maybe this can be accomplished via logmon monitoring cdm.cfg.
Or dirscan, probably alerting on an increase in size?
Auditing should also flag this as a change if you have it turned on.
dirscan, yes good pick.
However there is a need to be careful with auditing, and only enable what's needed since it can add whole lot of data to the uim database if too much is enabled.
For Windows servers, I'm quite sure entries are created in the Event Viewer logs when a new disk is added. If you can find what these entries are, you could use the ntevl probe.
And one other idea, assuming that you are collecting QoS for the existing and new drives, it would be possible to create a list of the existing known source/target combinations from the s_qos_data table and then alert when this table changes. This would also let you detect when devices were removed too if you filtered the list for QOS received in the last 24 hours. Might be able to run the query against the qos_snapshot table too.
Or, and it would take some investigation, but data_engine will record creating the QoS entry in its log so you could process that with logmon.
Many different ways to skin the proverbial cat here.
