Hi All,
do you have any consideration regarding CA SM (rel. 17.1) to be using an MS SQL Always On Cluster? Any compatibility Issue, any good experience on this?
This is in order to implement HA at DB level.
Thanks in advance,
Vito
Good Morning Vito.
Please check on this one: MS SQL AlwaysOn support
Does that help you further?
Kind regards, Louis.
Hello Louis,
yes it helps.
Thanks a lot for your suggestion,
Good Morning Vito. Please check on the below then too? There has not been any changes to the Always On feature in regards to SM 14.1 and 17.1 product versionThe answer is yes, SDM 14.1 version is supported for Microsoft SQL Server "Always On".And you can find the technical document below link:https://comm.support.ca.com/kb/which-version-of-ca-service-desk-manager-can-be-used-with-the-always-on-high-availability-option-of-microsoft-sql-server/kb000012124
And this one:Supportability Matrixhttps://docops.ca.com/ca-service-management/17-1/en/ca-service-management-17-1-release-notes/supportability-matrixShowing for Database: The following databases are certified on 64-bit.Support for Always On feature in the Microsoft SQL Server, with the exception of Unified Self-Service 17.1Kind regards, Louis.
What are the use cases for Always On with regards to Service Desk? I don't think it can be used for offline reporting because it replicates all tables (like log shipping), including ones that should not be replicated for the offline primary server.
Hi Jonh,
thanks for your point. There is not a particular use case but General Cluster DB architecture.
I will forward your warning to guys on field to take into account.
Cheers,
