    Hi All,

Can someone please explain to me what the significance is of the "Alarm on first Match only" check box in the Logmon/watcher rules?

I have read the logmon pdf file on docops. Cannot find an explanation of any kind what this does. Can someone tell me

    1) if this log matches the expression multiple times in a log what happens?

    2) when this action occurs when does it become reset?

    3) what are the benefits of using this feature?

    TIA

Generate alarms only on the first match of regular expression (defined in Watcher Rule), in a specified interval in the monitored log.

    Hi Steve,

So let me get this straight. If I check this box, and my check interval (poll)  is 3 minutes. And there are multiple occurrences identified by the regex expression occurring since the last 3 minute interval. Selecting this "match first only" will only generate an alarm once instead of multiple times, Correct? If this selection is left unchecked , then a separate alert will be sent for every occurrence detected by the regex expression during that 3 minute period, correct?

    That is my understanding.

Alarm on First Match Only - is checked, watcher rule looks for 'error1', & during that monitoring cycle 'error1' shows up 3 times in the new portion of the log, only one alarm is generated. Next monitoring cycle if 'error1' shows up again a new alarm is sent. Also this will not effect any other watcher rules.
