permanent agent license info in PWP log

  • 1.  permanent agent license info in PWP log

    Posted Mar 12, 2019 04:06 AM

    Hi all

Just a quick question: has anyone seen this behavior so far?

PWP Workload (and only PWP) of one of our Systems is >25% the most time
all other (D)WPs are roundabout 2..5%

Agent license info is written every 30 seconds into the PWP logfile

    20190312/070748.348 - U00034014 Agent 'SQL1' uses license ('0000000043' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.MYSQL' / '5').
    20190312/070748.348 - U00034014 Agent 'SQL2' uses license ('0000000040' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.ORACLE' / '5').
    20190312/070748.349 - U00034014 Agent 'RAWS02' uses license ('0000000047' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.RA.WebServices' / '').
    20190312/070748.350 - U00034014 Agent 'MSSQL2' uses license ('0000000041' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.MSSQL' / '5').
    20190312/070748.351 - U00034014 Agent 'RAFTP02' uses license ('0000000039' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.RA.FTP' / '').
    20190312/070748.352 - U00034014 Agent 'RAWS01' uses license ('0000000047' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.RA.WebServices' / '').
    20190312/070827.612 - U00034014 Agent 'UNIX_655' uses license ('0000000035' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.OS.UNX' / 'V').
    20190312/070827.613 - U00034014 Agent 'WIN_25' uses license ('0000000034' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.OS.WIN' / 'V').
    20190312/070827.613 - U00034014 Agent 'SQL1' uses license ('0000000043' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.MYSQL' / '5').
    20190312/070827.614 - U00034014 Agent 'SQL2' uses license ('0000000040' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.ORACLE' / '5').
    20190312/070827.615 - U00034014 Agent 'RAWS02' uses license ('0000000047' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.RA.WebServices' / '').
    20190312/070827.616 - U00034014 Agent 'MSSQL2' uses license ('0000000041' / 'Non Production' / 'EX.SVC.SQL.MSSQL' / '5').

Beside the higher PWP Workload we did not observe any negative impacts so far.

    AE V11.2.9+HF1 (ORA/Linux)

I checked the trace options in ucsrv.ini, they are turned off.

Another system (same version) does not have this behavior so I suppose its a setting somewhere...

    ...or a bug... :-)

    Anyone seen this behavior?

FrankMuffke, we do not the exact same issue but we are experiencing severe issues which Support says is related to the Server routine 'UCDS_R/getlicencelist'. This issue causes the entire system to crash.

We are on AE 11.2.10. AE is on Win and Oracle 12c DB is on Unix.

We started to see the issues after we upgraded to AE 11.2.9 HF1.

We know that we can reproduce the issue if we click og License from the system Overview of Java UI but the issue also happens randomly.

Does your system also stop if you go to System Overview and click the License ?

    Hi Keld,

thanks for the info & reply!

We do not observe any negative effect except a higher workload on the PWP.

I just clicked on System overview/License several times, no change, no reaction, PWP is still at37% level.

AE 11.2.9+HF1 on Linux, OracleRAC on Linux

Opened a Support Ticket to be sure.

    cheers & THX Wolfgang

    Hi,

good news is, that starting with v12.2.2 the license check will be deactivated

    Yo man,

thx for the input - this is a classical support answer - technically correct but useless for the customer :-)

But I'll try upgrading our V11.2. PROD System overnight to V12.2.2

During PROD DB load I will quickly upgrade our TEST & DEV systems...

    cheers, Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang,

I'm no longer working for UC4 / Automic / CA / Broadcom... I'm also on the customer side.

Just came across this blog entry and wanted to share the info

    Cheers

    Hi Antoine my old friend,

    I know (from TSCHO).

Hope we can have lunch together the next weeks :-)

    cheers, Wolfgang

    Hey Antoine,

this is not as good as news as it seems: Clients with limited license counts still need to stay under the limits, but can't see the current score anymore

    Best,

    Carsten

I"m not sure I follow.  Are you saying that the license section of the System Overview is going away?  Or are they just saying that the checks that get logged to the AE logs won't happen anymore?

Yes. The license overview has seemingly gone the way of the dodo.

12.2.2+hf1 License Overview gone, Product Activation Wizard !?

If you're on an "all inclusive" contract, that's good. If you're on a contract where you are allowed a limited number of agents, then you must still not exceed these contractual limits, but one may feel a bit Stevie Wondered (is that a verb?) about that right now. In that case:

    Make your own License Overview

I have also taken this up with our account manager, because this has other implications I am, however, not at liberty to fully discuss here. I am at present somewhat still hoping for Automic to reconsider this change.

    Best,

    Carsten

    Hi Carsten,

I get your point. I think it's good news because:

    - The server routine that regularly checks licenses will be deactivated = less resource will be consumed

    - When adding new agents the hardware / software combination will no longer be checked = no need to contact support and ask for a "HTYP patch"

However, I would assume this change has not been implemented for the above-listed technical reasons

    Best regards

    Antoine

    Hi all

Beside the fact that my actual question of the agent info in PWP log occurs in V11.2 + Java UI - AWI I think the way of Automic removing the license check in AWI and afterwards in the AE  in V12.2.2 is ther wrong way round like the example below:

    You break your Leg

the doctor puts it in plaster

after some days the doctor tries to align the bones to the correct angle

    cheers, Wolfgang

    You break your Leg

    You break your leg.

The doctor blinds you with eye drops, meanwhile asks you to sign the invoice with your thumb print.

    The hospital audits you.
