Time Slice Querying - which tables

Hi all,

I would like to query allocations, actuals and ETCs and i'm aware that these are all sliced by the time-slicing.
My question is, which tables should I use.

PRJ_BLB_SLICES seems to have slice information for different requests, yet there are also tables for the individual time-slices:
PRJ_BLB_SLICES_D_ALC, PRJ_BLB_SLICES_D_ACT etc..

Cananyone sugest what the difference is between using BLB_SLICES and using the specific tables?

Then I guess I need to make sure my slice requests are set up correctly to give me that info!
Whilst on that subject, taking the allocation as an example.
If I wanted to store allocations, lets say going back to cover from the beginning of 2010 up to maybe mid-2012, what parameters would I set in the time slice properties?
I guess i'm confused by the combination of slice period, number of periods, start_date
if I have a resource time curve starting on 1st August 2010, set up with daily periods, but the number of periods = 90, and rolling over monthly
what will that give me??

Thanks in advance,
Matt
