Changes to set / record

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Feb 14, 2005
We had some changes done to a record and the connected sets in IDMS
database that we are using. After generating the subschema, on trying to
reach the record thru one of the modified sets, we are getting 0353 as
the error. Also while trying to store that record, 1253 as error-status.

Any immediate help will be of great help.

Thanks
Babija

Re: Changes to set / record
"I suppose it would be unhelpful to suggest that the client might want to
insource.

You've changed the definition of an indexed set without changing the
physical structure. If all you've changed is the ""index block contains""
clause you can :

- reset the attributes of the indexed set in the schema or

- convert the data using unload/reload or an inhouse program.

If you've changed the indexed set pointer positions then there's potentially
a bigger problem, better back it out and think again.

is this running against the SAME areas with the SAME software when it
sometimes abends and sometimes works?
are you using any acceleration tools like QSAM ? Prefetch? FastAccess?
Megabuf/Seq?

I must admit in 13 years of running printspace (and the 10.2 equivalent
before that) I have never had a intermittent problem with vanilla
printspace with nothing changing between the runs ...

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Database Compare Utilities - Help
"Pete

Thanks. Good to know. There are several 'journal analyzer' type products
out there and very quick is good.

Darn good question. And the answer is....because some people want to know
what changed. Do they know what they are asking or how much sheer volume is
involved....that would be a big NO.

Thank you for asking that question, I feel better now.........

Linda

I know the utility that Jim is talking about and it is very quick.

My question is why do you need to compare databases ?
