[IDMS-L] Install/Upgrade Help

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on May 4, 2005
To all:
Just inherited an upgrade from 14.1 to 15.0. Currently I am
getting a 3964 at startup. The message description says that there is a
difference between the IDMSNWKS pages that the startup is using and the
files. How do I tell if there is a difference????

Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Mixed page group
"Hi everyone,

I have a client that is thinking of using the mixed page group facility.
In order to prevent any unnecessary heartache, I would like to hear
about any experiences of using the facility, of any ""what out fors"", any
""gotchas"", etc.

TIA,

Re: Mixed page group
"Laura,
Besides the usual caveat of ""no unqualified Dbkey obtains"", we have only
experienced one problem with mixed page groups. It was caused by a
database not being split up into segments properly. We had a set that
crossed segment boundaries. Even if you got away with this before (as
we had), it will not continue to work after you move one of the segments
to a different page group. The symptom is a 5007 abend.

Once the segment error was fixed, the change to mixed pages groups was
entirely transparent to the users and developers. The database
mentioned above is now spread across 46 different page groups, one for
each segment in the database.
