Re:CPU Effectiveness

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on May 16, 2005
Hi,

Now that we have updated our Production system to 16.0 SP1 + apars on
z/OS 1.4 and it has the nifty DCMT D SUBTASK EFFECTIVENESS command, what
is a good value for this at the end of the day? Currently we are at 77%
after 5 hours and slowly going up.

Thanks

Re: Journal Offloads - Don't Try This at Home
"Hello Joe:

This is a common occurrence with early releases of release 15.0, there are a
number of fixes available that can corrects this problem.

I actually had the exact same problem when I converted three of my clients
to IDMS Release 15.0.

Attached is a text file with some if not all of the fixes that I used to
correct the situation.

Re: Journal Offloads - Don't Try This at Home
"Hi Joe,
Interesting indeed. I'm surprised that the CV was allowed to start up whilst the journal file was being offloaded. Perhaps the CV came up with J4JRNL offline as the offload job would, and should, have exclusive rights to it,so the CV did not recognise it but when the current journal needed offloading it tried to offload J4JRNL which had been flagged as full.I don't know, but yes I agree, 'Don't try it at home'.
Cheers,
Geoff
