Re:CPU Effectiveness

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on May 16, 2005
Hi,

Now that we have updated our Production system to 16.0 SP1 + apars on z/OS
1.4 and it has the nifty DCMT D SUBTASK EFFECTIVENESS command, what is a
good value for this at the end of the day? Currently we are at 77% after 5
hours and slowly going up.

Thanks

Re: CPU Effectiveness
"Thanks for the info John.

It was this display that I was looking for some info on

DCMT D SUBTASK 01
*** Display Subtask details ***
Name MAINTASK
Number 01
Status BUSY
Work type IDMS
Count wakeups 462,071
Count task dispatches 751,324
User mode CPU time 00:03:50.4875
System mode CPU time 00:01:16.5596
CPU effectiveness (%) 73
Count times fast posted 9,324
Count times OS posted 00
Count found work pass 1 475,635
Count found work pass 2 275,689
Count times POSTEXIT resumed 458,173

It would be nice to have details on all these counts in the manual. I
understand some but not all of them.

Chris
