ADSOBCOM DECOMPILE vs LOADLIB?

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jun 6, 2005
hello listees

I have been asked to help identify all production executables that access a given schema record. For ADS/O programs, for many reasons I do not trust the completeness of the dictionary structures, and so wanted to DECOMPILE all dialogs and examine the output. HOwever, i can not find a way to DECOMPILE from a load module stored in an opsys LOADLIB, seemingly only able to DECOMPILE from load modules stored in a data dictionary load area.

have i missed somthing in the manuals (yes, I RTFM), or is there an undocumented trick to DECOMPILING against loadlib modules

lastly, if all the above fail, is there an easy way to regress an ADS/O object loadlib load module into a load area load module?

thanks,

Re: Small Display Problem in OLQ Menu Mode
"No, not just you; we're on R16.0 (SP0 + apars), and the last screen says R12.0 here, too

-----Original Message-----

We recently went 16.0 SP1 + apars but still have access to a 15.0
system. If you use OLQ in Menu Mode the last screen that display's the
report says CA-OLQ Release 12.0!!! I thought I had gone way back in
time. Funny how I had never noticed this for 14.0/14.1 or15.0?

Have we done something wrong here or is it like this for all
other post 12.0 sites?

"Re: Write to Printer Loop (never Mind, found documentation)"
"Found the answer, when all else fails read the Manual:

5.81 WRITE PRINTER

The WRITE PRINTER statement requests CA-IDMS to transmit data from a task to
a terminal defined to the system as a printer device during
system generation. Any type of terminal can be designated as a printer;
however, the terminal is usually a hard-copy device.

CA-IDMS does not transmit data directly from program variable storage to the
terminal. Rather, data is passed to a queue maintained by CA-IDMS,
and from the queue to the printer. The data stream passed to the queue by
the WRITE PRINTER request contains only data; CA-IDMS adds the
necessary line and device control characters when it writes the data to the
printer.

Write to Printer Loop
"Hello All:

We have a DC-COBOL program submitting JCL to the internal reader. It appears
to be looping, it fills all four 40,000 block journals, but, when we cancel
it the roll back is a RHDCRUAL program only?

This program has NO Data Base Access commands, the only DML Verb is a ""WRITE
TO PRINTER"".

Here is my question, what is IDMS writing to the journal files, we do have
QUEUE JOURNAL BEFORE in the SYSGEN, but, I did not think that the WRITE TO
PRINTER command would use the DDLDCRUN area?

Can anyone offer advice?
