Re: Upgrading the OS

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jun 9, 2005
The reason it is recommended to recompile (not relink) the startup and
SVC is because they reference the IBM maclib's and if the Release was
change, in theory the macro could have changes made to it. Thus by
recompiling with these new maclib libraries, changes could be made that
is required for the these modules to perform properly on the new
operating system. But many most likely say they do not have no
issues, but someday, they may.

Hi,

According to QI67776 when upgrading the z/OS OS how important is
relinking the startup and SVC? We changed our RHDCLEFE modules etc but
the startup and SVC where not relinked.

Thanks

IDD: Display my own user-id
"Hi All,

I would like to seek your expertise to share with me on the following
concern.

2. Currently, my user is not able to do a display on his user-id. See
attached.

IDD 16.0 ONLINE 1 ERROR
1/3
DIS USER QSA00DT.
*+ E DC601056  UNAUTHORIZED OPERATION
WORD 4
*+ W DC601017  FORWARD SPACING TO NEXT PERIOD
WORD 4

3. Therefore, in order for him to display his user-id, we can include
the following:

AUTHORITY FOR DISPLAY IS ( USER ).

4. With this statement being included, he is able to do a display on all
users.

5. Is there a way to restrict him to do a display ONLY to his user-id?

6. Preferably, we do not want any user to do a display on other users'
user-ids.

7. That's all folks.

8. Thank you.

"Dan,

That indeed was the answer. Now I can see if QO61579 changes the output.

Thanks
