Hi Everybody:

We have a dialog that go to something like a loop in our production system.
The dialog use a lot of RLE and storage. The real problem is that the we
speak with the user, and they said that when it happened, they run the
dialog again and its run o.k. Cheikng in OPER, its look like there is some
commits in the process because the counters in oper like call idms reset
every certain sevconds. We don't have performance monitor or other monitor
tool, we just use oper and dcmt commands for analysis, any ideas on what we
can check with the programmers ??? Somebody with something like this
problem?? I know that this is difficul to to catch it, but any ideas ???

TIA.

R16 SP2 - HPSPO questions
"It appears that the new High Speed Storage Protection (HPSPO) will
automatically be turned on if your SYSGEN specifies ""STORAGE KEY = 9"",
which is the default. My questions are about what happens if you DON'T
want to turn it on:

1) If you change the storage key to something other than 9, will
storage protection continue to work as it does now? (Assuming you don't
change anything else related to storage protection.)

2) What should the storage key be changed to? Are any other numbers
dangerous for some reason?

3) Can the storage key be changed prior to upgrading to R16 SP2, with
no ill effects?

R16 and CAS
"Hi all,

I have a new manager at my client site that wants to investigate upgrading 14.1 to 16.0 (before converting to Oracle!) for support purposes only. They are mostly concerned about their CAS and CASDATA processing.

Would anyone be willing to share any CAS/CASDATA experiences in their 16.0 production environments? I know I have asked this before but after 4 burials and resurrections of this project, it keeps getting harder to ""dust off"" the old notes, etc. (""dust off""? - more like shoveling off this old black prairie clay.)

Re: R16 SP2 - HPSPO questions
" Although I did this a while ago for reasons which I do not remember, I set
my internal (SYSGEN) storage key to 11 - this goes back maybe as far as
release 10.2. So I changed nothing for r16 SP2.
The external storage key (specified for the startup program in
SYS1.PARMLIB) is 10. Again, this was done for reasons I cannot fully
remember, but I think it has to do with keys less than 8 having special
privilages which IDMS does not need or want. And, I believe that the CICS
default storage key (in MVS) is 9, so that was already taken.
