Re:IDMSQSAM

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jul 27, 2005
I'm wondering if anyone has noticed any difference in area sweeps by
using the IDMSQSAM option (in the SYSIDMS file). I tried it years ago
with DCB=BUFNO=10, 20, etc. but don't remember any substantial
improvments in processing time (I remember many years before that
jigging the DMCL assigned buffers for local area sweeps and seeing
improvement in pre rels 12 days).

Is this option just smoke and mirrors or are there other parameters I
can apply to improve our area sweeps?

(we're currently on z/OS, rels. 1.something and rels 14.1 of IDMS, not
sure how DASD is set up)

Any CAS users out there?
"Hello all

Does anyone know of an online forum or listserve for CAS users? We're trying to find a place to ask some questions.

What we specifically need to know is . . .
How does CAS get the original invoice number associated with a credit memo as seen using response UPDCMHDR or INQCMHDR. The dialog is CAPDUICR and it links to CSYDKEY0 just prior to valuing MAP1-INVOICE-NUMBER in the CAPDUICR-PREMAP.

Thanks
Richard

EFB Abend in IDMS Startup Module After Microcode Upgrade
"Hail, Listers!

My boss/sysprog upgraded the microcode on our IBM Z800 mainframe
yesterday and the IDMS CVs are abending on startup with sEFB right after
the security initialization. The OS is OS390 2.10. This is an SVC
problem; but, we can't figure out why it's happening. The bossman is
working with IBM and CA; but, knowing the caliber of genius available on
this list, I figured I'd throw the problem your way to see what help you
all can offer. We're still on 12.01 at 9809. I will appreciate any
insight you can provide.

Thanks,

This also works in R15. I think it was actually introduced in R15, but
not sure. I am R15 SP2 (genlevel 200203) with very few additional PTFs
and it works like a charm.

Re: EFB Abend in IDMS Startup Module After Microcode Upgrade
"Roger,
The SExx abends are security abends. The SVC number is the last 2 digits (x'FB' or 251). Make sure your CAS9 job loaded the SVC correctly and from the right load library. Also, look at your SRTT and make sure you are using the right SVC. Most likely it is a problem with the CAS9 job which loads the SVC.

Good luck.

"Re: What programs to ""PROTECT"""
"Robert,

You can get the list from the different members in your installation
distribution source library. 2 sets of members are created for the
install jobs. DLODxxxx and DNODxxxx members. The DLODxxxxx will have
the PROTECT option for IDMS programs that can be protect, whereas the
DNODxxxx members will have the NOPROTECT option for all IDMS programs.
So just go thru your DLODxxxx members, and you can create the list for
your environment.
