FACTOTUMs have always been around. I think they're mostly used during
task
initiation and task termination. They do work before your actual task is
invoked - when you type in a task code at the task code prompt the
system
has to do work to get your task fired up - but it doesn't yet know what
the
task is - so FACTOTUM is used until such time as the task code is
determined
and the invoked program is loaded and dispatched. They're also used
after
your task completes. For example it's a FACTOTUM that writes out the
""enter
next task code"" prompt. The fact that they run is normal behaviour - I
don't
know why you wouldn't have seen them before this.
