Re: Problem with the List?
"Hello Bob:

What I can't figure out is why when they E-mail me directly can I read it
with no issues? Apparently I am not the only one getting garbled E-mails on the
list.

It could be the Font? When they send it directly I can read the E-mails
because my machine has the specific font that they are using?

I don't know but it sure is frustrating.

Folks,,

IDMS-L does not maintain settings for individuals. Since 99% of folks can
send legible emails to the list indicates it is not a problem with the
listserv.

IDMS-L does not accept HTML emails nor does it accept attachments. I
suspect either the email is being sent in HTML or there is a font being
used that the listserv does not recognize. Currier, Ariel and Sans Serif
are usually good choices for fonts.

Re: Problem with the List?
"Maybe it's because the emails are sent do an internet usegroup that MS
Outlook decides to translate something? My send message option was set
to plain text. However, the encoding was to western european iso
standard ( I have no idea why, must be a default). I changed to to the
only American option, US ASCII. Does this help Bill, or is this message
still presented garbled?

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Problem with the List?
"yes - I seem them as garbled when viewed through Lotus Notes - at home,
viewed through EUDORA, all is readable.

this contrasts with MY posts, in which the TEXT is readable, only the
MEANING is garbled ...

Re: Problem with the List?
"Bob,
When sending a plain-text message, I believe fonts are only for the
benefit of the sender's client program. Each character is sent as its
ASCII representation with no regard to a font.
One thing that Bruce could look at is possibly change his encoding
scheme from utf-8 to US-ASCII or Western-European.
