subschemas by area

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Dec 8, 2005
Hi everyone,

I've received a requested to provide the list of subschemas per area

name. I'm hoping someone else already has that type of report, whether

it's culprit or some other tool.

TIA,

Laura Rochon

Re: Index Cleanup
"Dan,
Please go to WWW.IUASSN.ORG (http://www.IUASSN.ORG) and then the '
Contributed Software Library'. You'll find a complete procedure that will do
Orphan Adoption.
It's under 'IDD' 'Indexes' and is called '-Adopt Index Orphans'.

I used to run tune index on a fairly regular basis at Power Systems,
particularly against EMIS. I would check which indexes had more
than about 20% orphan SR8 records and would do two or three per
week. I might be able to find all the pieces I used to track the
indexes if you're interested.

Opinions expressed above are, at best, mine.
However, I will share them.

Index Cleanup
"Hi Listers,
I am hoping someone can save me from re-inventing the wheel.

I have been asked to write a program that kicks off IDMS's orphan
adoption process. (IDMS will automatically adopt index orphans under
certain circumstances). At a previous employer, I had a program that
would do this and we would run it weekly to clean up indexes.

Does anyone have an existing program they would be willing to share?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Index Cleanup
"Hi Dan,

We use BCF TUNE INDEX to help with our index fragmentation. Here is a sample of the syntax.

TUNE INDEX FOR DBNAME BEPOS0P1 SUBSCHEMA DBPX03SS
SET BP-SRA-I-S COMMIT INTERVAL 100
NOTIFY INTERVAL 9999;

Good luck and watch out for extremely fragmented indexes because this process can chew up some locks and cause SOS conditions. Also, if you run under CV, many journals will be generated.
