LRF Currency

Hi,

Any LRFers left?

We are starting an interesting project here at the Navy to change a complex
auto-restart/recovery system written in the 80's to allow us to migrate to
Rel 16. The application is completely LRF. Unfortunately, this system
intercepts every call to IDMS and snaps and saves internal currency tables
on a sequential restart file. It then restores them back into IDMS CV
internal tables on a restart. Ergo - we are stuck on Rel. 12.0. Please,
please try your best to refrain from replies on this design choice - I
understand the unforgivable error and was not involved at that time. All
the participants are either in elderly care facilities or are CEOs.

It's been a long, long time and I used to teach LRF...., BUT that was over
15 years ago...

So - I would like to verify some LRF Currency info.

Is it true that LRF only uses the currencies in the LRF control blocks on an
iterative command and all other LRF calls use subschema currencies?

Does anyone have a paper that describes the exact use of currencies in LRF?
(I did read the manual.)

Is the following example in the Rel 16 LRF manual incorrect??? That is, I
don't believe ERASE (FIRST or NEXT) is allowed as program syntax.

Path code:
ADD

PATH-GROUP NAME IS ERASE EMP-JOB-LR

SELECT FOR KEYWORD ERASE-EMP

FIELDNAME-EQ EMP-ID-0415 OF EMPLOYEE

OBTAIN FIRST EMPLOYEE

WHERE CALCKEY EQ EMP-ID-0415 OF REQUEST

FIND EACH EMPOSITION WITHIN EMP-EMPOSITION

ON 0000 NEXT

ON 0307 ITERATE

ERASE EMPOSITION

ON 0000 ITERATE.
Program request:
ERASE FIRST EMP-JOB-LR

WHERE EMP-ID-0415 EQ '0050' AND ERASE-EMP.

Take Care,
Bruce

"Alas; when last seen Lady LRF was working for NCR/Teradata out of LA
(been there a decade or so I think).

I don't believe she moonlights in LRF.
