IDMS/SQL/Server and BEA WebLogic

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Mar 23, 2006
We are experiencing problems with a lack of support for IDMS/SQL by BEA WebLogic - BEA has dug its collective heels in with the line that they ""don't support IDMS"". Currently we are using WebLogic 8.1 and access to the IDMS JDBC Driver is by defining the datasource as type ""OTHER"" - that is not Oracle or one of the other ""supported"" DBMS's. We will be moving to WebLogic 9.1 - at which level BEA is dropping support for ""OTHER"" - so at that point it looks as though we will not be able to access IDMS/SQL from WebLogic - at least not without coding explicit CONNECTs and hand coding all the SQL and method calls to map the SQL columns to the Java class attributes (I'm not a Java person so I hope I have this part right). One of the advantages of being a ""supported"" SQL (even with ""OTHER"" specified) is that WebLogic handles all of this for you.

Are there any other IDMS/SQL and Server clients out there who are using BEA WebLogic, and if so have you encountered the same problems? Have you had any help from either CA or BEA to resolve this problem, or to find a work around at least? Any/all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers - Gary

Re: Email From ADS/O?
"We use the technique mentioned by Steve Harmeson - here is our test dialog that exercises this facility. We implemented system EXIT 21 to force the e-mails to be released as each one ends - the first few lines of comments describe the purpose of the exit:

IDMSEX21 TITLE 'EXIT 21'
*/\--------------------------------------------------------------------
*|| IDMSDC EXIT 21 5/10/93 REI
*|| ORIGINALLY RECEIVED FROM BOB IOVACINNI (CA SUPPORT CENTER GUY)
*||
*||----------
*|| Purpose: The purpose of this exit is to force each print
*|| report written to a SYSOUTL line to be made available
*|| for immediate printing after the last line of the
*|| print report has been written, instead of waiting for
*|| the CV to be shutdown. This exit is called by the
*|| SYSOUTL line driver, RHDCD07Q, after the last line of
*|| print report has been written to the SYSOUTL line.
*||

The code for the test dialog follows - HTH - cheers - Gary
