Mainframe access to MS-SQL Server

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Apr 4, 2006
Is anyone aware of a product like an ODBC driver for the mainframe that
would allow COBOL, CICS, or ADS programs to issue SQL against a
Microsoft SQL Server database?

"This is my new favorite APAR. It fixed two problems we had following
our R16 SP2 upgrade:

1) Some startup messages were not being displayed. (We have an
automated process that keys off one of these messages.)

2) Responses to operator console commands were not being displayed.

Re: Mainframe access to MS-SQL Server
"While it is technically possible to use the R16 TCP/IP driver, you might
run into a matter of dealing with SOAP-formatted messages.

We use a locally-written WebSphere front end to bridge between IDMS R16
systems and distributed systems like ORACLE and SQL Server.
