Trying to initialize pointers

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Apr 28, 2006
Hello - I am trying to use IDMSRSTT SETPTR to initialize a NEXT
and PRIOR pointer. The documentation states you can do this - however
it really isn't clear. Can anyone elaborate on how to do this?
Thanks,

Re: Trying to initialize pointers
"Use the syntax for the new pointer, using the current position as the new
position.
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(*,position)

If your record has 6 pointers and you want to change pointers 3 and 4.

IDMSRSTT RECNAME=recordname
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(1,1)
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(2,2)
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(*,3)
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(*,4)
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(5,5)
IDMSRSTT SETPTR=(6,6)
IDMSRSTT FIELD=ALL

First two pointers remain the same and pointers 3 and 4 are initialized and
5 and 6 are the same.

IMPORTANT - You will need to specify the SETPTR for all pointers.
